Integrated Financial Planning Center (IFPC) has been serving clients in Central Texas since 1981, when founder Don Kuhs established the firm with the vision of creating a one-stop shop for a person's financial needs. Based in Austin, Texas, IFPC functions as an independent, fee-based registered investment advisor, which the firm says gives it the latitude to act in clients' best interests and disclose any conflicts of interest. The firm specializes in retirement income planning, tax-advantaged strategies, and alternatives to traditional stock-market investing, with a stated emphasis on helping clients avoid outliving their money and protecting returns from inflation. IFPC's services span investment management (including IRAs — Traditional, Roth, SEP, Simple, and Educational — brokerage accounts, treasury securities, common stock, and variable annuities), comprehensive financial planning (retirement plans, tax plans, 401(k) and 403(b) plans, college plans, estate plans, money purchase and profit sharing plans), and insurance solutions (disability income, life, and long-term care). The team takes an educational, coaching-oriented approach, walking clients through risk tolerance, goal-setting, and ongoing monitoring/adjustment of their financial plan. The team includes founder Don Kuhs (ChFC, CLU, AEP, CSA — and a U.S. Navy veteran), Financial Advisor Shanda Ransom, Operations & Client Services Specialist John Okoro, and Administrative Assistant Jennifer Ayres. IFPC offers a free initial consultation and notes particular expertise in alternatives for retirement income and tax avoidance as one of its distinguishing characteristics.

Our Process
IFPC uses a disciplined, step-by-step process. Advisors first work to understand the client, their risk tolerance, and their goals, then gather comprehensive data on the client's current financial state and resources. Only then do they craft a custom plan drawing on more than 40 years of firm experience, monitor progress toward the goals, and adapt the plan as life and markets change. The firm believes the discipline and accountability of working with an advisor make clients more likely to achieve their goals, and stresses that this fiduciary responsibility is taken seriously.
- Step 1: Understand client, risk tolerance, goals
- Step 2: Gather comprehensive financial data
- Step 3: Build a custom plan
- Step 4: Monitor progress and adapt over time
Our Philosophy
IFPC's philosophy blends fiduciary accountability with an educational stance: it explicitly acknowledges that clients can do their own financial planning and frames the firm's value as coaching and accountability. The firm highlights particular expertise in alternatives to the stock market, aiming to expand clients' choices beyond conventional recommendations, with the goal of enhancing inflation-protected returns while reducing taxation — a capability it describes as 'perhaps one of our most distinguishing characteristics.'
