• Help keep the community safe, including detecting, reviewing, and addressing spam, fraud, abuse, prohibited content, and other harmful or unlawful activity, as described in Section 3;
• Communicate with you, including service messages, security alerts, and optional notifications and updates that may be tailored to your interests and activity;
• Understand how the Services are used and conduct analytics and research to improve them;
• Comply with legal obligations and enforce our Terms and Conditions.

3. Automated Processing, Personalization, and Safety

To operate the Services, keep the community safe, and provide a relevant experience, we use automated systems to process content and activity on the Services. These systems may, for example:

• Analyze and categorize content (such as posts, images, captions, comments, and messages) to organize it, understand topics and interests, and personalize what you see;
• Build and update preferences associated with your account so that recommendations stay current as your interests change;

Direct messages are intended to be private between participants; however, as described in Section 3, automated systems and, where appropriate, our team may review messages and other content to protect the community from spam, fraud, abuse, and other harmful or unlawful activity, and to comply with law. We do not use the content of your private messages to target advertising to you.

• With other members, according to your settings and how you use the Services (for example, your profile and public posts);
• With service providers who perform functions on our behalf (such as hosting, infrastructure, communications, analytics, and security) under obligations to protect your information and use it only to provide services to us;
