What the faithful are sharing around the world today

My son received his first communion today. He truly was present and did not want us to tease him before he went up. When I had my first communion I think it was just another box I had to check as a child back then. My son had been waiting for this moment for so long and was proud to receive this Holy sacrament. DO CATHOLICS WORSHIP STATUES? The answer is a resounding, "NO!" Non-Catholics LOVE to say that Catholics worship statues, but that is FALSE. The Bible forbids worshiping idols, not making images. FUN FACT: Catholics do not think statues are gods. They use them to remember Jesus and the Saints, like looking at a photo of someone you love. GOD TOLD HIS PEOPLE TO MAKE SAINTS? God even told His people to make sacred images. The Bible talks about statues of angels in the temple and a bronze serpent that God used to heal people. This shows that images can be used in a good and holy way. STATUES HELP TEACH THE FAITH Long ago, many people could not read, so images helped them learn. Even now, they remind people of holy lives and important events. Catholics honor what the images show, not the objects themselves. The Church clearly teaches that worshiping statues is wrong. Idolatry means treating something like a god. Catholics reject that. They use images to help them grow closer to God, especially through Jesus Christ.
