About University of Evansville Newman Center · Evansville, Indiana

The University of Evansville Newman Center, also known as Aces Catholic (formerly the Newman Club), is the Catholic campus ministry serving students at the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana. It is operated under the Diocese of Evansville and directed by campus minister Lynn Falcony. The ministry helps Catholic students stay connected to one another through Christ, the Sacraments, and ongoing faith formation, with core values of faith, friendship, and service. In addition to Sunday Mass at nearby St. Benedict Cathedral, the ministry gathers for weekly dinners, Eucharistic adoration, and small groups, and in 2025 opened the Oratory of St. Pier Giorgio Frassati on the second floor of the Newman Center house.

Why belong here

Aces Catholic offers University of Evansville students a true Catholic home on campus, gathering Sunday mornings for the 10:30 AM Mass at St. Benedict Cathedral and Wednesday evenings for a shared dinner and discussion at the Newman Center. Praise & Worship nights with Eucharistic Adoration, small groups, retreats, and service opportunities let students grow in prayer, friendship, and outreach — and the new Oratory of St. Pier Giorgio Frassati at 1901 Lincoln Ave. now provides a dedicated chapel for the sacraments steps from where they live and study. It is open to students of all backgrounds and is led by students themselves with campus minister Lynn Falcony.

Oratory of St. Pier Giorgio Frassati

The Oratory of St. Pier Giorgio Frassati is the new chapel created in 2024–2025 on the second floor of the Newman Center house at 1901 Lincoln Avenue. A spare bedroom in the upstairs was repurposed into a sacristy and confessional, giving students a dedicated space for Mass, Eucharistic adoration, and personal prayer between classes — closer than the chapel at St. Benedict Cathedral and especially helpful for students without transportation.

  • Construction began September and concluded in February (year of dedication)
  • Funded by private donors, a Catholic Foundation grant, and Koch Foundation grants
  • Patron: St. Pier Giorgio Frassati, a young saint known for prayer, evangelization, and service to the poor
  • Blessed and altar dedicated by Bishop Joseph M. Siegel on March 16, 2025
  • Contains a relic of St. Maria Goretti placed in the altar

Weekly Gatherings and Small Groups

Wednesday Night Dinner & Discussion at 5:00 PM is the weekly hub of Aces Catholic life at the Newman Center house. Depending on interest and availability, additional small groups and faith studies are formed each semester. The ministry also takes part in diocesan young-adult events such as the Kerygma Retreat at Camp Carson (Princeton, IN), a 3-day, 2-night retreat for ages 18–24.
