History of the Parish
The present parish was canonically erected in 2008 when Bishop Joseph V. Martino's diocesan pastoral planning merged the historic Assumption Parish and Sacred Heart Parish of Conemaugh into one community under the new name of the Transfiguration. Father Robert C. Hall, who had been pastor of both predecessor parishes since 2000, became the founding pastor of the merged parish and led it for the next sixteen years.

Recent Pastoral Transition
Following the death of Father Robert C. Hall on April 4, 2024, Bishop Mark Bartchak celebrated the funeral Mass at the Church of the Transfiguration on April 11, 2024. The Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown subsequently appointed Rev. Timothy Harris, TOR — a member of the Third Order Regular of Saint Francis — as parish Administrator, a role he combines with his pastorate at Saint John Vianney Parish in Mundy's Corner.

The parish keeps a small, steady schedule centered on the Saturday vigil and one Sunday morning Mass, with Confessions available the same Saturday evening. The Diocese of Altoona-Johnstown parish directory lists Saturday 6:00 PM and Sunday 8:00 AM as the published Mass times, and Saturday 7:00 PM as the published time for Confession.
