The parish takes its name from two patron saints — St. James the Apostle and St. Stanislaus — reflecting the Polish Catholic immigrant roots common to rural northeastern Wisconsin in the 19th century. The historic Church of St. Stanislaus stands at Hwy. 64 and Darinski Road in the unincorporated community of Langlade, while the Church of St. James serves as the active parish church in White Lake. The Diocese of Green Bay closed St. Stanislaus in 2021 because of declining attendance; the building has since been repurposed as Wolf River Roots coffee shop.
