History of the Parish

St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic Parish was created through the consolidation of several Catholic parishes that had served Two Rivers, Mishicot, and Francis Creek for generations. Catholic education in the area dates back to 1867, when the first Catholic school opened in Two Rivers. In 2011, the consolidated parish purchased the former C.C. Case Elementary School (built in 1965 and closed in 2006) and Bishop Robert Morneau blessed it as St. Peter the Fisherman Catholic School in November of that year. Students and alumni from each of the six original parishes represented in the merger took part in the Mass. Citing declining enrollment and dwindling donations, pastor Fr. Tom Reynebeau announced in 2015 that the school would close after the 2014–15 academic year and all K–8 students would transfer to St. Francis of Assisi Elementary and Middle School in Manitowoc. In 2017, the former school property was rezoned for office use and sold to Vinton-Two Rivers LLC for redevelopment.
