About St. Vincent Ferrer Parish

St. Vincent Ferrer is an active Catholic community in Madison Heights, Michigan, called by God and 'gifted in the Spirit.' The parish is open to diversity and committed to outreach and serving the needs of others. Its current focus is on promoting and celebrating the healing love of Jesus through active forgiveness, mercy, compassion, and maturing charity. A team of full-time staff runs day-to-day operations, supported by parish volunteers who are described as 'the backbone of our success.'

History

The parish took shape in the late 1950s to serve Madison Heights' growing Catholic population. In May 1958, groundbreaking for the church took place with a target completion of Christmas; the project was complicated by quicksand discovered during foundation work, requiring extra tons of sand and brickbats. Around its sixtieth anniversary the parish community celebrated sixty years of faith in Madison Heights and recommitted itself to evangelization and gospel-centered service. Today it operates as part of a Family of Parishes under a moderator model.
