Our History
Founded on October 19, 1961 by a decree of Archbishop Lucey, St. Vincent de Paul began as a mission carved from St. Gabriel's, Our Lady of Grace, and St. Louis parishes. The first pastor, Rev. Joseph P. Petsch, said daily Mass in his home and at Royal Gate Elementary School until the Parish Center was completed in 1962. The church was dedicated by Archbishop Francis F. Furey on September 26, 1971, and the parish has grown to over 3,300 registered families under five pastors. The parish has celebrated major jubilees — Silver (1986), Ruby (2001), and Golden (2011) — each time gathering the community for liturgical celebrations and festivities.

Mass & Worship Schedule
St. Vincent de Paul offers a full weekly schedule of Masses in English and Spanish. The church is also open for Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament on Wednesday and Thursday evenings after Mass, and Confession is available — parishioners are encouraged to contact the parish office for the current confession schedule.

Five clergy have shepherded the parish since 1961. Each pastor contributed to the growth of the community — building facilities, expanding ministries, and welcoming new daughter parishes into the Archdiocese.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
The parish offers Religious Education classes for children and youth in both English and Spanish, with classes scheduled to begin August 15–16, 2026 for the new school year. Spanish-language faith formation has doubled in size as the parish community has grown. First Eucharist and Confirmation preparation are part of the religious education curriculum.

Outreach & Charity
Living the charism of St. Vincent de Paul — 'Apostle of Charity' — the parish runs several outreach ministries. The Friendship House Food Pantry, operated by the St. Vincent de Paul Society, provides food assistance to neighbors in need. Project Gabriel, housed in an office in the Parish Center, supports mothers who have chosen life for their unborn child regardless of religious denomination. The Knights of Columbus host an annual Spaghetti Plate Sale fundraiser.

Devotions & Spiritual Life
Beyond Mass, the parish nurtures spiritual life through weekly Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament and the Divine Mercy and Rosary devotion led by a parish deacon. The Rosary Walk, opened in 2011, is a garden prayer setting on the parish grounds designed for quiet reflection, inner peace, and devotion.

About St. Vincent de Paul (the Saint)
St. Vincent de Paul (1581–1660) was a French priest known as the 'Apostle of Charity.' Born in 1581, captured by Barbary pirates and enslaved for two years, he escaped to France in 1607. Under Cardinal Pierre de Bérulle's spiritual guidance he devoted his life to charitable works, founding the Congregation of the Missions (Lazarists/Vincentians) and, with St. Louise de Marillac, the Sisters of Charity in 1633. He died in Paris on September 27, 1660 and was canonized by Pope Clement XII in 1737; Pope Leo XIII declared him patron saint of charitable works. His feast day is September 27.
