Church of St. Vincent de Paul is a Catholic parish in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, in the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. The parish traces its origins to 1855, when Father George Keller celebrated the first Mass in nearby Osseo in the home of pioneer Pierre Bottineau — making it the first Catholic congregation west of the Mississippi River in Hennepin County. After outgrowing three successive churches in Osseo, the parish relocated across the street into Brooklyn Park in 1989, where the current 1,500-seat church, school complex, and Adoration Chapel now serve roughly 2,900–3,000 households drawn from Osseo, Maple Grove, Brooklyn Park, Champlin, and Dayton. The parish is home to St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School (Pre-K through Grade 8), a robust Faith Formation program, perpetual Eucharistic Adoration, and active youth ministry.

Our Story
St. Vincent de Paul traces its roots to 1855, when Father George Keller celebrated the first Mass in Osseo in the home of Pierre Bottineau for 100 pioneer families. A year later, those pioneers built Hennepin County's first Catholic church west of the Mississippi, the Church of St. Louis. After successive churches (1864 and 1921) and a school (1952), the parish relocated into Brooklyn Park in 1989. The chapel inside today's church still honors the parish's first patron, St. Louis.
- 1855 — First Mass celebrated in the home of Pierre Bottineau by Fr. George Keller.
- 1856 — First church built in Osseo, named Church of St. Louis (first Catholic church in Hennepin County west of the Mississippi).
- 1864 — Second church built on Main Street Osseo on land donated by Peter Gervais; parish renamed St. Vincent de Paul.
- 1880 — Sanctuary enlarged; sacristy added.
- 1890 — Steeple added to house the 1865 bell.
- 1921 — Third church built (420 seats, $63,000) with 105 families.
- 1952 — Parish school opened.
- June 10, 1989 — Current 1,500-seat church dedicated in Brooklyn Park at a cost of $3.6 million.
- 1998–99 — New school, gymnasium, kitchen and dining hall.

St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School

Faith Formation & Sacrament Preparation
Faith Formation supports children in Grade 1 and beyond, preparing them for First Reconciliation (typically Grade 2) and First Eucharist. Preparation is a two-fold program of parent meetings, home preparation materials, classroom instruction, retreats, and rehearsals. Youth Ministry
The parish runs an active Senior High Youth Group for grades 9–12, with nights that include speakers, games, small-group time, treats, and opportunities to encounter Christ through the Sacraments. OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults)
OCIA (formerly RCIA) prepares unbaptized adults, adults from another faith, and baptized Catholics who have not yet received the sacraments to become full members of the Catholic Church. The pastor's letter mentions that 'men and women are exploring and embracing the Catholic faith through OCIA' at the parish.

Bible Study & Adult Formation
