History of the Parish
St. Victor has served Monroe's Catholics since the mid-1800s. Its school, St. Victor School, was founded in 1916 and remains Green County's only Catholic elementary school. In 2011, St. Victor merged with St. Rose of Lima in Brodhead to form St. Clare of Assisi Parish. A major accessibility expansion — a 12,000-square-foot addition with ADA entrances, parking, and facilities — broke ground in 2018 and was completed by Memorial Day 2019, transforming the 19th-century church into a fully accessible worship space. In 2024, the parish began a further merger with neighboring parishes into Pastorate 11.
