About St. Veronica Parish
St. Veronica Parish is the Roman Catholic community formed on October 1, 2020 by merging St. Margaret of Antioch Church and St. Malachy Church, both in Burlington, Massachusetts. It belongs to the Archdiocese of Boston and is led by Pastor Rev. James M. Mahoney and Parochial Vicar Rev. Thomas J. Stanton. The parish retains both historic worship buildings — St. Margaret at 111 Winn Street and St. Malachy at 99 Bedford Street — under a single staff, budget, Faith Formation program, and Music Ministry.
History of St. Malachy Church
St. Malachy Parish was created by an official split of Burlington's St. Margaret's Parish at 12:01 A.M. on June 30, 1964, when roughly half of St. Margaret's 12,000 parishioners became members of the new community. The church blessing was held that same morning and five Sunday Masses began on July 5. Richard Cardinal Cushing, Archbishop of Boston, performed the formal dedication on October 31, the anniversary of the first Catholic Mass in Burlington. The Reverend Edward B. Flaherty, a WWII veteran and former chaplain at Guadalcanal, was the first pastor and had the parish fully organized by the end of 1964.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
The parish runs a parish-wide Religious Education program for children and teens in Grades 1 through 12, with separate coordinators for the elementary, middle, and high school years. The program always welcomes additional catechists and helpers.
