Why belong here

St. Timothy's is the kind of close-knit rural parish where Catholic faith is shared across generations of farm and small-town families. Visitors are welcomed into a simple Sunday worship at 8:00 a.m., with weekday Mass on Fridays at 9:00 a.m. and Reconciliation before Sunday Mass. The parish shares a strong cluster with Ss. Peter and Paul in Atlantic, which means parishioners benefit from shared clergy, faith-formation programs, and a Council of Catholic Women — a community that is small but deeply rooted in the Reno countryside.

History

St. Timothy's Church of Reno was incorporated under Iowa law on January 21, 1913, as a Revised Domestic Non-Profit corporation — a date that marks the parish's formal organization among the farming communities of Cass County. For more than a century the parish has sustained Catholic worship in this stretch of southwestern Iowa farmland. In the modern era it has been grouped with Ss. Peter and Paul in Atlantic and St. Mary in Anita (and, until 2023, with Our Lady of Grace in Griswold) so that rural parishes can share priestly ministry.

  • August 2020: Fr. Trevor Chicoine named canonical administrator of St. Timothy
