Our Story: From 1923 Mission to One of the Largest Parishes in the Diocese
St. Timothy Catholic Church in Chantilly, Virginia has roots that reach back nearly a century. The Catholic community in Centreville began as a mission of St. Mary of Sorrows Church in Fairfax in 1923, and a small St. Timothy Church building was completed in December 1924 along Route 28. After the mission closed in 1944 it was reopened as a Mission of All Saints in Manassas. The post-war housing boom of the 1960s brought a wave of Catholic families to western Fairfax County, and by 1967 the little chapel was overflowing — the Chantilly Firehouse hosted three additional Sunday Masses. In November 1968 the community leased space in Greenbriar East Elementary School, setting the stage for the founding of the present parish.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
The parish's Religious Education program (CCD) serves students in kindergarten through eighth grade, meeting Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons and evenings. First Communion preparation typically spans first and second grade, and Confirmation preparation spans seventh and eighth grade, each requiring a two-year catechetical period. A Missing Sacraments Program on Thursday evenings serves students whose sacramental timeline has been interrupted, and a dedicated SPRED program welcomes children and young adults with developmental disabilities.

St. Timothy Catholic School
St. Timothy Catholic School, founded in 1981 under founding pastor Rev. R. Roy Crosby, educates approximately 750 students in PreK through eighth grade on the parish campus at 13809 Poplar Tree Road.
