Our History

In September 1937, Bishop Alexander McGavick of the Diocese of La Crosse issued a decree to create a new parish in response to a request from Mrs. Joseph Wiener. Father Vincent Schwartz was sent to survey the area and began his work in October 1937. The first Mass was held on November 1, 1937, in the Rothschild Community Hall. Father Schwartz was appointed the first pastor on November 14, 1937. The parish was legally incorporated, land was purchased in December 1937, and the first baptism occurred on November 21, 1937. Religious education began in November 1937, and the Little Flower Aid Society was organized by parishioners to support the parish’s growth.

Our Mission

We, the parishioners of Saint Therese, are committed to continue the ministry of Jesus Christ through prayer, worship, faith, and charity. We believe that the Eucharist should be at the center of our lives; that we are to be stewards of God, sharing our time and talents to promote our spiritual development as individuals and as community. May St. Therese assist us that we might imitate her life of prayer, simplicity and obedience to God’s will.
