According to the parish website, Thérèse had a simple yet powerful message that still resonates today — she died at 24 believing her life was just beginning for God, promising to spend her heaven doing good on earth. Her 'Shower of Roses' began and has become a torrent in the Church. She was a Carmelite nun, canonized in 1925 by Pope Pius XI, named patron of missions in 1927, and patron of France in 1944.

School Connection — Notre Dame Catholic School
St. Theresa is closely linked to Notre Dame Catholic School, which began in 1985 as 'St. Theresa's School' under founding pastor Msgr. John Scully, opening with 14 first- and second-grade students in church classrooms. In 1992 the school transitioned into the interparish Notre Dame Catholic School, which today serves multiple Hernando County parishes.
