Parish History
St. Stephen Catholic Church was founded in 1923, with its interior murals painted by Slovenian artist John Gosar. The parish undertook a multi-phase restoration of these murals beginning in 2011, with phase two completed in October 2013. The restoration project, led by conservators from the Midwest Art Conservation Center, aimed to preserve and restore the 90-year-old artwork, which had been obscured by grime and smoke. The parish has celebrated its 150th anniversary and continues to honor its heritage while serving the community.
