Heritage of St. Stanislaus Kostka
Built by Polish immigrants in Adams, Massachusetts, St. Stanislaus Kostka Church has served the northern Berkshires since December 1902. It is one of the early Polish-American Catholic parishes of the Diocese of Springfield in Massachusetts and remains a touchstone of local Polish heritage. Mass & Service Schedule
Sunday Mass is celebrated at 8:00 AM, with Monday Mass at 9:00 AM when the school is in session. A First Friday Mass is offered at 10:00 AM. Devotions include the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and Rosary on Fridays at 3:00 PM, and Stations of the Cross during Lent at 3:45 PM. Tours of the church interior are offered immediately following the Sunday 8 AM Mass; visitors are asked to notify an usher and meet near the altar.

The 2009 Closure and Reopening
On January 1, 2009, Bishop Timothy A. McDonnell temporarily closed St. Stanislaus Kostka along with several other parishes in the diocese facing restructuring. Parishioners responded with a continuous, round-the-clock vigil inside and around the church that lasted 1,150 days — a stand that drew attention to the fate of small ethnic Catholic parishes in New England. On February 18, 2012, the diocese announced the church would reopen, and on Palm Sunday, April 1, 2012, the doors were formally restored to active worship.

The church is at 25 Hoosac Street, Adams, MA 01220. Parking is available in the lot on the left of the church at the Hoosac and Summer Street intersection. Visitors coming from the north take Route 8 south into Adams, turn left before Walgreens onto Hoosac Street. From the south, drivers pass the Adams Memorial Library on the left and turn right after Chee's Chinese Cuisine onto Hoosac Street. Westbound visitors cannot cross Mt. Greylock directly and should route north or south around the mountain first.
