Parish History
Catholic life in Roseville began in 1894 with Mass at Branstetter Hall in Old Roseville. A permanent church called Ascension of the Lord was built on East Grant Street in 1908, and in 1911 the community was formally erected as a parish and renamed St. Rose of Lima. As the town grew, Monsignor James Corcoran led the 1960 move to the present Vine Avenue campus with a new church, rectory, and school. The parish has been served over the decades by successive pastors, a permanent diaconate, and a bilingual community that gathers in English and Spanish.

Social Outreach and Charity
Outreach at St. Rose reaches both the local Roseville community and the broader region through longstanding Catholic charities and parish-led initiatives. The parish supports the St. Vincent de Paul Society, the Gathering Inn, Home Start, the Lazarus Project, and WWJD, and runs its own Front Door Ministry, Homeless Lunches, Respect Life, and Health Ministry programs. St. Rose School
St. Rose School is the parish's K-8 (Transitional Kindergarten through 8th grade) elementary school, sharing the Vine Avenue campus with the church. It opened in 1960 with founding principal Sister Margaret Helena and was originally staffed entirely by the Sisters of Mercy of Auburn. The first lay principal was appointed in 1985, and the school is now fully staffed by lay teachers who continue the Mercy charism. Today the school is led by Principal Michael Garcia.
