St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Lake City, Colorado, is the oldest Catholic church on the state’s Western Slope, established in 1877. It began with an organizational meeting hosted by Father Hays in Lake City and was formally dedicated in 1878. The church features a Gothic-style building and a steeple added in the 1890s. It is part of the Diocese of Pueblo and is currently led by Pastor Father Andres Ayala-Santiago, who became the first Hispanic parish administrator for St. Rose of Lima in 2014. The parish serves a rural community with a focus on faith, service, and sacramental life.

About St. Rose of Lima
St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, the oldest Catholic church on Colorado’s Western Slope, started with an organizational meeting hosted by Father Hays of Del Norte, Colorado, in Lake City on September 2, 1877. Funds were raised that fall and winter for a 30’x60’ Gothic-style building, which was formally dedicated on January 6, 1878. The church steeple was added to the building in the 1890s.

We offer Baptism, First Communion, Reconciliation, Confirmation, Marriage, and Anointing of the Sick. Sacraments are central to our worship and spiritual life.
