St. Rose of Lima Parish is a Roman Catholic parish in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, belonging to the Diocese of Greensburg. The parish was formed by Irish Catholics in 1893 and is named for St. Rose of Lima, the first saint from the Americas to be canonized. Today it serves its Latrobe community through daily and Sunday Mass, Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, a faith-formation program, the Saint Vincent de Paul Society, and a variety of liturgical and pastoral ministries. History of St. Rose Parish
Founded in 1893 by Irish Catholics and named for St. Rose of Lima — the first canonized saint from the Americas — the parish laid the cornerstone of its first church on July 11, 1893. That original church, on Church Street, was renovated in 1912. Under Fr. Julius Stefurosky, appointed in 1960 by Bishop William Connare, the parish relocated to its current site; Bishop Connare blessed the new cornerstone and consecrated the altar on August 30, 1968. The parish celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 1992 under Fr. James Tringhese, and today, under Fr. Ronald Maquinana, continues its 130+ year tradition in the Latrobe community.

Pastorate & Parish Succession
Over more than 130 years, St. Rose has been shepherded by a long line of pastors beginning with founding pastor Rev. F.C. Shea. The longest single tenure was that of Fr. Julius Stefurosky, who served 29 years (1960–1989) and oversaw the move to the current church building. Fr. William P. Donahue served as the 19th pastor for 19 years (1995–2014). The parish was partnered with St. John the Evangelist after Fr. Donahue's retirement before becoming independent again in 2023.

Parish Staff
St. Rose is served by a small, dedicated staff alongside the pastor. The parish secretary manages the office, while a business manager doubles as the parish Safe Environment Coordinator. Liturgical and music roles are filled by a sacristan and organist, and faith formation is led by a coordinator. Children of the parish attend Christ the Divine Teacher School, whose principal is also listed among parish leadership.
