History of the Parish
According to the diocesan newspaper North Texas Catholic, St. Rose of Lima Parish was dedicated in 1993. The parish takes the name of Saint Rose of Lima (1586–1617), a Peruvian Dominican tertiary and the first person born in the Americas to be canonized. Glen Rose itself sits along the Paluxy River in central Texas; the town was settled around 1849–1859 and named at a public meeting in 1872, with Catholic faithful in the area long served from neighboring Granbury before a permanent parish was established here in the early 1990s.
