St. Rita Parish in Haiku, Hawaii, is a welcoming Catholic community dedicated to living out Christ’s message of love and service. Founded in 1922, it was originally a mission church before becoming a parish in 1950. The parish serves the Haiku area and surrounding communities through worship, sacraments, and outreach ministries. Its mission is to be effective 'Stewards of the Gospel,' strengthening parishioners in faith and reaching out to the broader world through prayer, Eucharist, and service.

About Us
Saint Rita Parish Haiku is a former sugar plantation district that converted to pineapple in 1921. Over the years, Haiku and the surrounding areas were served by a number of Catholic churches including St. Ann in Hamakuapoko, St. Gabriel in Keanae, Holy Rosary in Paia and St. Augustine in Kailua. St. Ann and St. Augustine no longer exist. St. Rita was built in the 1920's by Sacred Hearts Father Jules Verhaeghe. It was first a mission of Holy Rosary and then of St. Joseph, Makawao. It was elevated to parish status in 1950. It has been in existence since 1922.

Sacraments
The whole liturgical life of the Church revolves around the Eucharistic sacrifice and the sacraments. (CCC 1113) While we believe that human life is infused with the sacramental goodness of God, the Catholic Church has defined seven sacraments - instituted by and through the life of Jesus Christ. It is through the experience of the sacramental ritual that we are infused with God’s grace. The Sacraments nourish and strengthen us as they express and build up our faith.
