History of the Parish
St. Philip Neri came into being in 1937 after a long wait by the Catholics of Kinder. Its founding pastor, Msgr. Paul M. Fuselier, established mission chapels at Fenton (St. Charles Borromeo) and Kings Farm Community (Sacred Heart of Jesus) with help from the Extension Society of Chicago. Msgr. A. J. Robichaud then led the parish for 43 years (1942–1985), during which the current church (1961), the parish center (1972, later named for him), and the rectory (1984) were built. The parish also once shepherded Sacred Heart Mission in Indian Village and St. Maurice Mission in Reeves, both closed in 2005 by Bishop Edward K. Braxton.

Buildings & Campus
Most of the parish's physical plant was constructed during Msgr. Robichaud's long tenure. The current church was built in 1961. The parish center, completed in 1972, contains 12 classrooms, an auditorium, a kitchen, offices, and a library and is named in Msgr. Robichaud's memory. The rectory was finished in 1984. The parish also references a Perpetual Adoration Chapel on the grounds.

Religious Education (CCD)
St. Philip Neri's Religious Education program provides faith formation for children in grades 1 through 11. The Parish Catechetical Leader (Kristan Wedlock) and the Youth & Young Adult Coordinator (Erica Barnett) oversee the program, with class sessions meeting on Wednesdays during the school year. Children must be registered members of the parish to enroll. Textbooks include the Ignatius Press 'Faith and Life' series and 'The Gold Book' for grades 1–8, and 'Witness to the Gift,' 'Chosen,' 'Youcat,' the 'Gold Book,' and the Catholic Youth Bible for grades 9–11.

Liturgical Ministries
Parishioners serve the Sunday and weekday liturgy as altar servers, lectors, extraordinary ministers of Holy Communion, ushers, music ministers, and members of the Decor Committee. EMHCs also bring Communion to those unable to attend Mass because of illness or infirmity. Music ministry includes cantors, choir members, pianists, organists, and instrumentalists.

Outreach & Charity
St. Philip Neri participates in concrete works of mercy through two principal outreaches. St. Vincent's Closet, a parish-based ministry coordinated by Barbara Istre, distributes clothing and household items to those in need. The parish also hosts a monthly Catholic Charities of Southwest Louisiana food distribution, providing food assistance to Allen and Jeff Davis residents.
