History
The parish was formed in 1998 by the merger of St. Joseph and St. Peter parishes, following the destruction of St. Joseph’s church by a mine cave-in in 1997. It traces its roots to Italian immigrants drawn to Fairmont’s coal mines, with St. Anthony’s (1911) and Immaculate Conception (1931) serving as missions. In 2000, three additional former missions were merged into the parish family.
Sacraments
The parish offers all seven sacraments: Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Reconciliation, Anointing of the Sick, Marriage, and Holy Orders. Baptism requires preparation and godparents must be practicing Catholics. Adults seeking initiation should contact the Rectory.
Ministries
Active ministries include Music Ministry, Safe Environment, OCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults), and Parish Membership. The parish also offers Infirm/Homebound Mass and Lambert Hall Mass Intentions.
