Parish History & Identity
St. Peter the Apostle was established in 1960 in the Four Corners community southeast of Franklin, Louisiana, in St. Mary Parish. From its founding it was paired with St. Joan of Arc in Glencoe and served by a single pastor, Rev. Jerome Haines. The Diocese of Lafayette simultaneously established the parish's CCD (Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) program and celebrated the first Confirmation at the parish church on May 6, 1961, with Bishop Maurice Schexnayder presiding. Today the parish is identified by the diocese among its predominately Black parishes and remains part of the South Deanery of the Diocese of Lafayette.
