History
What began as a small community of families has grown into a welcoming parish of several hundred households. In December 1991 the parish completed its current church building, which was later dedicated by Bishop John McCarthy in February 1992. The original church structure now serves as the Msgr. Fred Bomar Education Building, supporting religious education programs, parish ministries, and community gatherings.
Ministries
We place special emphasis on our Christian Doctrine classes for students in our Parish attending public schools. The classes are conducted each Sunday morning from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. We are committed to presenting the Catholic faith to our students and fostering their devotion to the sacraments in a safe and professionally designed program staffed by qualified volunteers. These Christian Doctrine classes are held only during the two school semesters. Registration is closed for the 2020-2021 school year. It is our intention that second grade students receive First Reconciliation and First Communion. However, our Parish policy requires that each child must participate in our Religious Education Program for a full year before receiving one of the sacraments for the first time. Confirmation is administered by the Bishop of the Diocese of Austin every two years here at St. Peter’s. Confirmation preparation involves attending our weekly classes for two years and then a shorter but more concentrated reflection on the significance on Confirmation in the life of our young Catholic members. Confirmation students must have received First Holy Communion before they begin their preparation. Please contact Viola Duran, Director of Religious Education (DRE). 512-442-2769 for information with registrations or questions.
Sacraments
Adults who are in need of the following Sacraments: Baptism, First Communion, and Confirmation are asked to call the Office of Christian Doctrine for more information at 512-442-2769; leave us your name and phone number. This is a year-long process. Confirmation students must have received First Holy Communion before they begin their preparation.
