Parish History
St. Peter Catholic Church was established in 1967 by the Diocese of Salt Lake City as a mission to serve the Catholic faithful in American Fork and the surrounding areas of northern Utah County. The community worshipped in its first dedicated church building beginning September 28, 1974, and the building was rededicated on October 28, 1984 — milestones that mark the physical growth of the parish alongside its spiritual growth. On June 15, 1994, the parish's Social Hall was blessed, giving the mission a proper gathering space for faith formation and parish gatherings. In the year 2000, the diocese formally elevated Saint Peter from mission to parish status along with Our Lady of Perpetual Help (Kearns) and San Felipe (Wendover), affirming the community's maturity and self-sustaining vitality.

Pastoral Staff & Parish Office
The parish is led by Fr. Eugenio Yarce, who serves as Pastor. Day-to-day operations are supported by a small but devoted team that includes the Director of Religious Education / CCD Office coordinator, the parish secretary, and the accounting manager. The parish office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 AM to 12:00 PM and again from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM, and the office itself is located just to the right of the sanctuary — the first room on the left in the hallway leading toward the Dowling Center.

Religious Education & Sacraments
St. Peter's runs an active religious education program for the children and youth of the parish. Religious Education classes for school-age children are held on Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM. First Reconciliation and First Communion preparation share this same Saturday morning time slot, while youth preparing for Confirmation meet on Wednesdays from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM. Adults seeking full initiation into the Catholic Church are welcomed into the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA), which meets on Saturdays from 3:30 PM to 4:45 PM. Families preparing for the Sacrament of Matrimony are asked to contact the parish office directly for details and requirements, and Mass intentions are submitted to the office the week before the desired weekend Masses.

In compliance with the Diocese of Salt Lake City and the USCCB Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People, St. Peter Parish requires all adult and youth personnel and volunteers who work with children and vulnerable adults to complete Safe Environment training.
