History of St. Paul Mission
The Catholic community in Westport was first gathered in 1968 under the care of Fr. William Quick, a retired priest who celebrated Mass in local civic spaces — the Grange Hall and the VFW clubhouse — because no church building yet existed. In 1973 construction began on a dedicated church, and the building was formally dedicated on March 24, 1974, giving the community its own permanent worship space. A rectory was added in 1978 to house clergy locally, and the church interior was renovated in 2001.
