St. Paul the Apostle is a Roman Catholic parish in the resort and retirement community of Horseshoe Bay, Texas, in the Diocese of Austin. It was founded by the Paulist Fathers in 1972 as an interdenominational house of worship, with Mass initially celebrated in various locations until land was donated in 1979 and the cliff-top chapel was dedicated on December 5, 1982. The parish serves more than 200 registered families in the Texas Hill Country, with weekend Masses on Saturday evening and twice on Sunday, plus three weekday Masses. Ministries include the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Knights of Columbus, Communion of the Sick, Ladies Ecumenical Bible Study, and a Benevolence Committee that partners with a sister parish in Lometa and supports Mission Marble Falls.

History of St. Paul the Apostle
St. Paul the Apostle was founded by the Paulist Fathers in 1972 as an interdenominational house of worship serving the resort and retirement community of Horseshoe Bay on the Highland Lakes of the Texas Hill Country. Mass was celebrated in various shared locations until land for the chapel was donated in 1979. The signature stone-and-wood chapel overlooking Horseshoe Bay was dedicated on December 5, 1982, with original artwork by Sister Mary Peter Tremonte of San Antonio. For three decades the building changed little until a 2013 expansion nearly doubled worship seating from about 150 to 280 and added classrooms for Bible study and catechesis, along with the 7,000-square-foot Linda Finn Family Life Center that opened in October 2013.

Pastoral Leadership
The parish is served by priests of the Paulist Fathers (Congregation of St. Paul, C.S.P.). Fr. Ruben Patiño, C.S.P., served as longtime pastor before being named Pastor Emeritus and moved to Senior Ministry in 2025; he continues to reside at the parish. Paulist Fr. Brad Schoeberle was appointed pastor in January 2025 and entered eternal life at the parish on October 21, 2025. Paulist Fr. Don Andrie, C.S.P., currently serves the parish alongside Fr. Patiño.

Parish Ministries & Outreach
The parish supports a wide range of ministries serving both parishioners and the broader Highland Lakes community. The Benevolence Committee partners with the sister parish of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Lometa and supports local charities such as Mission Marble Falls, which provides weekly lunches on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and the Getting Ahead financial-literacy program. The Ladies Ecumenical Bible Study welcomes Protestants and Catholics together.

Sacraments
The parish celebrates the seven Catholic sacraments. Families seeking Baptism or Marriage must be registered members of St. Paul the Apostle and attending Sunday Mass regularly for at least three months. The Anointing of the Sick is offered on First Fridays at the 9:00 AM Mass and on request for those who are hospitalized or homebound. Adults interested in becoming Catholic are invited to inquire about the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults (RCIA).

Linda Finn Family Life Center
The Linda Finn Family Life Center is a 7,000-square-foot facility opened in October 2013, named in honor of longtime parishioner Linda Finn. It overlooks Horseshoe Bay from a cliff-side balcony, with bay windows inspired by the chapel's original floor-to-ceiling windows. The FLC hosts the Tuesday Holy Hour, weekday Rosary gatherings, the Ladies Ecumenical Bible Study, RCIA and faith-formation classes, parish safety trainings, fellowship events, and is available to rent for parish-approved receptions and celebrations.
