Welcome to St. Patrick Parish

St. Patrick Parish is a small Roman Catholic community in West Stockbridge, Massachusetts, in the southern Berkshires. Together with St. Ann Parish in Lenox and St. Vincent de Paul Parish in Lenox Dale, it forms the Tri-Parish Catholic community, sharing one pastor and pastoral team under the Diocese of Springfield in Massachusetts. The parish invites all to worship, to register as parishioners, and to grow in faith through its programs and sacraments.

Our History

St. Patrick's was established in 1871 to serve the Irish Catholic families drawn to West Stockbridge by the booming local iron mining industry. Before that, area Catholics had to travel on foot or by wagon — sometimes all the way to Albany, New York — for Sunday Mass, or attend private house Masses hosted by local families. In 1869, the Rev. George Brennan led the effort to found a local parish, and the cornerstone of the present church was laid that year on Richmond Road, about half a mile north of the village center. The church was dedicated in 1871 with the Rev. John O'Loughlin as its first pastor; St. Joseph's in Stockbridge then became a mission of the new parish.

Pastoral Team

The Tri-Parish community is shepherded by a single pastoral team. The pastor of St. Patrick's, along with St. Ann and St. Vincent de Paul, is the Rev. Msgr. John J. Bonzagni, who also serves the Diocese of Springfield as Judicial Vicar and as a member of the Priest Personnel Board. He is assisted in West Stockbridge by Deacon John Zick.

Mass and Worship Schedule

St. Patrick Church hosts a single weekly Sunday Mass, celebrated in English. The rest of the Tri-Parish Mass schedule is shared with St. Ann Church in Lenox and St. Vincent de Paul Church in Lenox Dale, so parishioners can easily attend Mass at any of the three sites.

Faith Formation & Religious Education

The parish supports faith formation for children and adults through its Tri-Parish programs, with online registration available through the parish website. Catechesis prepares young parishioners for the sacraments and continues faith growth for adults through ongoing resources and formation opportunities.
