History of the Parish
St. Patrick's was established in 1876 to serve the Catholic families scattered across the hill towns of western Oneida County. Through its long history the parish has also cared for St. Anne Mission (founded 1847) at its same Main Street address — a mission chapel that has since closed. In 1991, Father Francis A. Wapen, ordained in 1970, became pastor and has continued in that role for more than three decades. St. Patrick's now functions within the Diocese of Syracuse's new Vicariate 4 structure, in PCA 1 ("Greater Rome Area"), aligned with parishes in Boonville, Camden, Holland Patent, Lee Center, and Rome.

Parish Life and Annual Events
The best-known tradition at St. Patrick's is the annual St. Patrick's Day Clambake, the parish's major fundraiser of the year. Held each March — the 2018 clambake drew roughly 60 parishioners and guests together for an evening of clam chowder, shrimp cocktail, sausage and steak sandwiches, mixed-green and vegetable salads, and a wide spread of homemade desserts. The event is a beloved expression of the parish's community spirit and a major source of parish income.
