St. Katharine Drexel Parish is a Roman Catholic community in western Wayne County, New York, serving the villages of Macedon and Palmyra. Formed in 2014 through the merger of St. Patrick (Macedon), St. Anne (Palmyra) and St. Gregory (Marion), the parish today worships in two of those historic churches — St. Patrick's on Main Street in Macedon and St. Anne's on Church Street in Palmyra — under the Diocese of Rochester. The parish is pastored by Rev. Symon Peter Ntaiyia and assisted by Parochial Vicar Rev. Steven B. Lewis and Deacon Marcelo DeRisio, and it is part of the Wayne County Cluster together with St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish (Ontario, Sodus and Sodus Point).

St. Patrick's Church and the Macedon Catholic Community
St. Patrick's Church at 52 Main Street is the historic worship site in Macedon and one of the two churches that make up St. Katharine Drexel Parish. It stands at the heart of a small Wayne County village whose Catholic roots reach back to 1856, when Irish canal workers first gathered for Mass in a frame building further east on what is now Route 350. The current brick church was erected in 1957 and dedicated in 1958; it has served the Macedon faithful through six decades and is now home to most of the parish's weekend and weekday Masses. The parish staff maintains office hours at the Macedon address on Mondays and Wednesdays from 8:00 AM to noon.

Parish Staff and Clergy
The parish is led by Pastor Rev. Symon Peter Ntaiyia and Parochial Vicar Rev. Steven B. Lewis, with the diaconal assistance of Deacon Marcelo DeRisio. The staff that supports the Macedon / Palmyra community includes Secretary Bev Dulmage (St. Katharine Drexel), Faith Formation Coordinator and Youth Minister Corey Ginett (shared between St. Maximilian Kolbe and St. Katharine Drexel), and maintenance personnel for the Macedon site, including Larry Prutzman. Pastoral Care, Prayer Shawls and Outreach
Pastoral Care at St. Katharine Drexel reaches beyond the walls of the church. The Prayer Shawl Ministry combines compassion with the love of knitting and crocheting, gathering parishioners to make shawls that are given to those suffering loss or illness; donations of yarn and completed shawls are always welcomed. The parish also coordinates a 'Neighbors Helping Neighbors' outreach effort and arranges visits, Holy Communion and support for the homebound and hospitalized. Volunteers from the parish also provide meals for families after a funeral, free of charge to the family.

Faith Formation and Youth Ministry
Religious education for the parish's children is organized by Faith Formation Coordinator and Youth Minister Corey Ginett, who serves both St. Maximilian Kolbe and St. Katharine Drexel parishes. The program prepares students for the sacraments of First Reconciliation, First Communion and Confirmation, and offers ongoing faith formation through the school year, including summer Religious Ed sessions. A separate youth ministry track engages teens in the spiritual, service, social, cultural and athletic 'five-phase' model of Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) programming at the parish, regional and diocesan levels.

Devotions and Prayer Life
Beyond Sunday Mass and the Wednesday holy hour, St. Katharine Drexel sustains several devotions that draw the parish together throughout the liturgical year. The Prayer & Spirituality page highlights the Seven Sundays Devotion to St. Joseph — a lesser-known tradition that meditates on Joseph's seven joys and seven sorrows — and the Novena to St. Michael the Archangel, who is venerated as a healer and protector. Lectio Divina on the Sunday Scriptures is also encouraged as a way of praying with the Word.

Wayne County Cluster and the Road to Merger
In June 2024 St. Katharine Drexel Parish formally entered into a parish cluster with St. Maximilian Kolbe Parish (which worships at St. Mary's of the Lake in Ontario and the Church of the Epiphany in Sodus), and the two parishes are now actively working to become one. Bishop Salvatore R. Matano endorsed the recommendation after pastoral planning concluded in 2024, and a merger committee — drawn from both communities — is documenting shared work and drafting a plan of merger for the Diocese. The process anticipates continued availability of two priests across the four churches and a continuation of the current weekend Mass schedule. As part of building a new parish identity, the Faith Formation Coordinator is engaging the children of both parishes to help select a patron saint for the merged parish.
