St. Patrick's Catholic Church is a Roman Catholic parish located at 1095 DeSoto Street on the Eastside of Saint Paul, Minnesota, within the Archdiocese of Saint Paul and Minneapolis. Founded on October 13, 1884, the parish was originally named for the Irish immigrants who lived and worked around its first location at Mississippi Street and Case Avenue. Since 2009 it has been clustered with neighboring St. Casimir and is served by priests of the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate (OMI). Today St. Patrick's is a multicultural community serving Irish, Anglo, Hmong and Hispanic Catholics through weekend Mass, a monthly Hmong Mass, daily Mass, faith formation, music ministry, the Knights of Columbus, the Legion of Mary, and a long list of parish events.

Our Story
St. Patrick's has been a vibrant Catholic parish in the heart of Saint Paul's Eastside for over 135 years. Founded on October 13, 1884, to serve Irish immigrant families around Mississippi Street and Case Avenue, the parish moved to its present Magnolia and DeSoto location in 1938 under the long pastorate of Fr. Richard Lee (1928–1955). The present church building opened on March 11, 1964 under Fr. Leon Bonnin. Run by Capuchins from 1973 to 1996, returned to the Archdiocese, and clustered with St. Casimir in 2009 under the Missionary Oblates of Mary Immaculate, St. Pat's is now a multicultural home to Irish, Anglo, Hmong and Hispanic Catholics.

Other Devotions & Prayer
St. Patrick's keeps a steady rhythm of devotions throughout the year — Eucharistic Adoration on Wednesday mornings, Stations of the Cross each Friday of Lent at 9:00 AM, and weekly meetings of the Legion of Mary and Prayer Shawl ministry in the Fr. Lee meeting room and Chapel of St. Francis.

Music Ministry
St. Pat's music ministry fills the church with beautiful voices and is always looking for new cantors and musicians. Four groups currently serve the parish: a Sunday morning music ministry, the Saturday Choir, the Resurrection Choir, and the Hmong Choir that supports the monthly Hmong Mass.

Faith Formation & Youth
For over 100 years St. Pat's taught the faith through its parish Catholic school. Today that education continues through the Faith Formation program: students in Kindergarten through 8th grade meet Sunday mornings from 9:15 to 10:30 AM in the Rectory, then join the 10:45 AM Mass. Second graders prepare for First Eucharist and fourth graders for First Reconciliation; older students (grades 9–10) take part in the two-year Confirmation program. RICA supports adults preparing for initiation at the Easter Vigil. Children are also welcomed at the Children's Liturgy of the Word in the St. Francis Chapel, and youth age 10 and up can serve as Altar Servers. Teen activities are run jointly with cluster parish St. Casimir (contact Daniel Paulus at St. Casimir).

Parish Ministries & Organizations
St. Patrick's has a deep bench of lay-led ministries. The Legion of Mary has met here for over 50 years; the Prayer Shawl ministry knits blankets for the newly baptized, the needy, and the homebound; the Knights of Columbus are organized as Council 4374. Parish life also includes Patrick's Pantry, the annual Toy Sunday, and other outreach efforts rooted in the Eastside.

Sacraments at St. Patrick's
The seven sacraments are the backbone of parish life. Baptisms are scheduled through the parish office and warmly welcome infants, older children, and adults entering the faith. First Eucharist is prepared in 2nd grade through Faith Formation. Confirmation for youth is conferred by the bishop at the Cathedral of St. Paul; adults are confirmed at the Easter Vigil here at the church. Anointing of the Sick is offered to any seriously ill, surgical, or elderly parishioner on request, and marriages are prepared through the parish office.

Annual & Seasonal Events
St. Pat's is known for a busy calendar of annual and seasonal gatherings that knit the parish together. Highlights include the St. Patrick's Day Pancake Breakfast on the Sunday before the feast, the Parish Picnic each summer, Turkey Bingo the Sunday before Thanksgiving, Friendship Sunday on the first Sunday of the month, and the Confirmation Welcoming Mass on Pentecost.

Longest-serving pastor (27 years); oversaw the move from Mississippi St to Magnolia & DeSoto and the building of the new combined church-school in 1938. The current meeting room is named in his honor.

Oversaw the massive expansion of the early 1960s, including the present church building (first Mass March 11, 1964), new rectory and convent. The church hall is named for him.
