Parish History

The Catholic community of St. Patrick's first established a presence in Rutland Center in 1881, taking over the former 1844 Methodist church building in 1882 and aligning the mission with Holden. By 1938 the congregation had grown sufficiently to be established as an independent parish. Around 1958 the parish built a new church east of the Unitarian church in Rutland Center, and the older 1844 building was demolished. The parish continues to serve three central-Massachusetts towns from its Main Street location today.
