St. Patrick Catholic Church & School is a diverse, family-oriented Roman Catholic parish in North Kansas City, Missouri, serving the northeast side of Kansas City and stretching into south and eastern Platte County to the Missouri River. Established on July 1, 1924 by Bishop Francis Gillfillen and now part of the Diocese of Kansas City–St. Joseph, the parish combines a parish school (the Panthers), a religious education program, and an active sacramental life centered on the Eucharist and Reconciliation. Under Fr. Matthew Brumleve, pastor since 2018, St. Patrick describes itself as a "homey" community where parishioners often call the parish a "family."

Parish History
Established July 1, 1924 by Bishop Francis Gillfillen with Rev. William F. Gott as the first pastor, St. Patrick grew from Masses in a Knights of Columbus hut and a chapel at Diester's Junction into a full parish campus on NE 42nd Terrace. The parish built a basement church on Iron Street in 1929, added a school above it in 1951, and moved to the current 42nd Street property in 1960. For 36 years the gymnasium doubled as the worship space until the new church was formally dedicated on October 28, 1995 and the gym was restored to a parish center in 1996. The school was completely renovated in 2007–2008.

Meet Our Pastor — Fr. Matthew Brumleve
Fr. Matthew Brumleve has served as pastor of St. Patrick since July 2018, when Bishop Johnston appointed him to help bring about healing in the community. A priest of the Diocese of Kansas City–St. Joseph, Fr. Brumleve first came to the parish as a 5th-grade teacher at St. Patrick Grade School in 1993–1994, after moving to Kansas City in 1992. He has previously served as Associate Pastor of St. Mark in Independence (1994–1996); Pastor of St. Patrick in St. Joseph and St. Joseph in Easton (1996–2004); Pastor of Holy Family in Kansas City (2004–2013); and Pastor of St. George in Odessa and St. Jude in Oak Grove (2013–2018). He also served for 12 years as Director of Continuing Education for the priests of the Diocese (1996–2008), is a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus (since 1998), and completed 150 hours of Death and Grief Studies at the Center for Loss and Life Transition in Fort Collins, Colorado in 2008. He has served on the presbyteral council, priests' personnel board, lay pension board, priests' pension board, and the ecumenical commission of the Diocese.

St. Patrick Catholic School (the Panthers)
St. Patrick Catholic School provides a nurturing and challenging academic environment for elementary and middle school students, paired with a Christ-centered faith formation. The school's mission is to provide a Catholic-centered education that prepares students for high school while guiding them to be critical, creative thinkers who possess empathy and compassion for others and a love for Jesus Christ. The school year 2026/27 carries the theme "Be His Heart in the World!" reflecting the motto: Challenge. Inspire. Empower. Serve. The school was most recently renovated in 2007–2008, completing August 24, 2008.

Faith Formation & Religious Education
The Parish School of Religion (PSR) and RCIA form the backbone of parish faith formation outside the parish school. Religious Education classes meet on the 1st Sunday of the month at 9:45 am, between the 8:30 am and 11:00 am Sunday Masses. The RCIA Inquiry phase is open to anyone exploring the Catholic faith; inquiries are directed to the Director of Religious Education. Sacramental preparation for First Reconciliation and First Communion usually takes place in 2nd grade, and Confirmation in 6th grade, in line with diocesan norms.

St. Patrick prepares parishioners for and celebrates all seven sacraments of the Catholic Church, with most pastoral contact coordinated through the Director of Religious Education. Anointing of the Sick and funeral-related requests are handled through the parish office.
