St. Patrick Roman Catholic Church is a parish in Hubbard, Ohio, part of the Catholic Diocese of Youngstown. Founded in 1869 by Irish and German immigrant families, it has served the Trumbull County community for more than 150 years from its current church on North Main Street, built in 1967. Parish History
St. Patrick Parish in Hubbard traces its roots to 1866, when Irish and German immigrant families petitioned the pastor of St. Columba Parish in Youngstown to make Hubbard a 'station.' They chose Saint Patrick as patron, and a small frame church was built on North Main Street with the first Mass celebrated in the unfinished building in the fall of 1867 — a carpenter's bench served as the altar. By 1868 the community had become a mission of St. Mary Parish in Warren, and in 1869 it formally became a parish, with the first Baptism celebrated on March 17 of that year. Father Schaffield, the first resident pastor (from 1874), brought the Holy Humility of Mary Sisters to teach and oversaw the church addition, the parish cemetery land (1872), and the convent (1875).

Growth, New Churches, and the School
As the congregation grew — many parishioners of Irish and German descent — Father Nicholas Drohan (pastor from July 4, 1889) built a Gothic, yellow-brick church on the corner of Main and Water Street. A two-story school was added east of the church in 1915 by Father John Maloney, and Father John Toole added eight rooms in 1953 to handle the post-war baby boom. The Humility Sisters served the school until 1987.

The Present Church (1967) and 21st-Century Renewal
The current St. Patrick Church at the corner of Park and Main Streets was begun on December 12, 1966, with the first Mass celebrated February 25, 1967. Father Francis Hughes, the 16th pastor, built the Parish Center in 1987. Extensive renovations in the early 2000s included school updates, the installation of an elevator in the church, and the purchase of a small house on church grounds to shelter homeless families. A 2021 fire caused extensive sanctuary damage; full reconstruction was completed in 2024.

School and Preschool
St. Patrick School closed in June 2016 due to declining enrollment. The former convent now houses the St. Patrick Rectory, administrative offices, and the preschool.

Vacation Bible School
An ecumenical effort joining with Hubbard's other Christian churches to share the Good News with children preschool through 6th grade. The host church and program rotate each year, with Bible stories, music, crafts, games, science projects, and a mission project supporting various charities.
