St. Paschal is a Roman Catholic parish in Spokane Valley, Washington, that has served the Parkwater–Spokane Valley community since 1916, making it one of the oldest Catholic parishes in the Spokane Valley area. About St. Paschal Parish
St. Paschal is one of the oldest Roman Catholic parishes in Spokane Valley, founded in 1916 in the historic community of Parkwater north of Trent Avenue. Today it operates as a sister parish with St. John Vianney in Dishman, sharing a pastor, office staff, school and faith-formation program. Mass is celebrated Sundays at 8:00 AM at the church on North Park Road, with Confession and Adoration Tuesday evenings.
History
Established in 1916, St. Paschal grew out of the early Parkwater farming community just north of Trent Avenue and Havana Street. A parish grade school opened in 1940 — the first Catholic school in the Spokane Valley — and educated an estimated 2,000+ students before closing in 2008. The present church building on N. Park Road was constructed in 1954 to replace the original Parkwater church, and the parish marked its 100th anniversary with a two-day community celebration in 2016.

Worship Schedule

Faith Formation and Religious Education
Faith Formation members help both children and adults deepen their faith through Catholic doctrine, practice, and culture, and are encouraged to be casual but informed resources in everyday life. The ministry includes OCIA, Vacation Bible School, and Sacramental Preparation (Reconciliation, Confirmation, and First Holy Communion). Volunteers as young as 12 who have received all three Sacraments of Initiation are welcome; all volunteers must complete virtual training and agree to the diocesan Code of Conduct.

St. Paschal School and EduCare
St. Paschal opened the first Catholic school in the Spokane Valley in 1940 and educated generations of Valley children until closing in 2008 after 68 years. Since then the West Valley School District has leased portions of the building for early-childhood education, and the Chesterton Academy of Notre Dame has announced a move of its classical Catholic high school to the campus for the 2025–2026 academic year. St. Paschal EduCare, the parish's licensed Catholic preschool and before/after-school program, continues to operate on the campus for children ages 1 through 12. EduCare provides preschool curriculum, a loving Christian environment, and before/after-school transportation via West Valley busing to Seth Woodard and Orchard Center Elementary Schools. Prayer and Devotions
Beyond the regular Mass and Confession schedule, the parish sustains several ongoing prayer offerings. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is held Tuesday evenings at St. Paschal and throughout the day on Wednesdays at St. John Vianney. The Vocations Committee hosts a monthly Holy Hour for Vocations, supports altar-server recognition, and runs a Traveling Crucifix program that rotates among parish families. The Prayer Chain quietly carries the intentions and joys of parishioners who ask for prayer support.
