The parish was canonically established in 2009 and is named for St. Pio of Pietrelcina (1887–1968), the beloved Italian Capuchin friar whose feast day is celebrated each September 23. As a member of Family #12 under the diocese's Road to Renewal program, St. Padre Pio shares pastoral ministry with five neighboring parishes: St. Brigid of Bergen, Resurrection in Batavia, Ascension in Batavia, and Our Lady of Mercy in Le Roy. The family's Moderator is Rev. Scottston F. Brentwood, O. de M., supported by three additional In Solidum priests and assisting parochial vicars.

Worship Sites
The parish operates two worship sites to serve its rural Genesee County constituency. The St. Cecilia site (56 Maple Avenue, Oakfield) functions as the mailing address and hosts the largest share of the schedule, including weekend and Thursday/Friday weekday Masses. The Our Lady of Fatima site (65 South Main Street, Elba) hosts Monday and Tuesday morning Masses as well as the earlier Sunday and Saturday Vigil Masses.

Parish Staff
Day-to-day parish operations are supported by a small but dedicated staff.
