St. Michael the Archangel is a historic Catholic church in Butler, Pennsylvania, originally founded in 1909 as an Italian ethnic parish to serve the growing community of Italian immigrants in the area. The parish grew from humble beginnings—a rented warehouse and a former Methodist church—into a thriving community, and today its 1952 church building on Center Avenue continues to serve as one of five worship campuses of All Saints Parish in Butler. Since July 1, 2021, St. Michael the Archangel Church has been part of All Saints Parish, which also includes St. Andrew, St. Conrad (formerly St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen), St. Paul, and St. Peter, all sharing a unified clergy team, bulletin, and parish life under Pastor Father Kevin Fazio.

About All Saints Parish and St. Michael the Archangel
All Saints Parish is the unified Catholic parish of Butler, Pennsylvania, formed on July 1, 2021, from the merger of five historic parishes: St. Andrew (Center Township), St. Conrad (formerly St. Fidelis of Sigmaringen, Meridian), St. Michael the Archangel (Butler), St. Paul (Butler), and St. Peter (Butler). The five church buildings all remain open and continue to host Masses and parish life. The parish offices are located at St. Paul on N. McKean Street and at St. Conrad on Buttercup Road, and the mailing address is 128 N. McKean St., Butler, PA 16001. The pastor is Father Kevin Fazio, supported by Father John and Father Rick.

Parish History: From Italian Mission to All Saints Parish
St. Michael was founded as an Italian ethnic parish in 1909 to serve about 200 Italian families in Butler. Newly ordained Fr. Vincent Marinaro was appointed pastor on August 6, 1909. The first Mass was celebrated on August 22, 1909 in a rented warehouse, and a former Methodist church was renovated and dedicated on August 28, 1910. In 1912, Belgian and French families were joined to the parish with a Sunday French Mass. After fires damaged the church in 1920 and 1925, fundraising for a new church began in 1926 but stalled during the Depression. Land was purchased in 1947, ground broken in May 1948, the cornerstone laid June 11, 1950, and the present church dedicated September 28, 1952. Following Bishop Zubik's 2015 On Mission for The Church Alive! initiative, parishes were grouped in 2018 under shared clergy, and on July 1, 2021, St. Michael merged with four other Butler-area parishes to form All Saints Parish.

Music Ministry and Parish Life
After the 2021 merger, music director Cadie Brown helped form the All Saints Parish choir and children's chorus to unite the five communities. The parish hosts an annual Christmas music concert — now in its fourth year — featuring the parish choir, children's chorus, and guest musicians, held at St. Paul Church. At the 2024 concert, the parish presented the Cookie Salak Memorial Scholarship, named after a longtime music director at St. Conrad and St. Paul, to graduating high school seniors active in music.

Young Adult Ministry
The Young Adult Ministry, for ages 21–39, meets regularly for faith, fellowship, and spiritual growth. Gatherings include campfire evenings with food and a presenter, catered lunches, coffeehouse conversations, Theology on Tap events, and service opportunities such as directing traffic at the annual St. Conrad Fish Fry. Annual Fish Fry
All Saints Parish hosts one of the largest Lenten fish fries in the Butler area, serving an average of 1,200 meals each Friday of Lent at the St. Conrad campus (125 Buttercup Road). Meals include baked fish, French fries or gluten-free sides, green beans, coleslaw, bread and butter, and dessert, priced at $15 per meal. The ministry is supported by months of planning, dozens of volunteers, and local sponsors.

Butler Catholic School
Butler Catholic School is the parish school associated with All Saints Parish. In 2025 the parish announced that longtime principal Sister John Ann Mulhern would step down June 30 after 20 years of service, with Pastor Father Kevin Fazio publicly thanking her for her dedication to faculty, staff, students, and parents.
