Parish History
St. Michael's was founded in 1898 and marked its 125th anniversary in 2023 with a special Mass celebrated by Archbishop George Lucas of Omaha on July 16, 2023 (broadcast live by Siouxland Catholic Radio 88.1 FM). Over more than twelve decades it has grown into one of the largest Mass-attendance parishes in the Archdiocese of Omaha, surpassing several 'megaparishes' in Omaha proper. In 2023, in response to Archbishop Lucas's call to form missional communities, St. Michael's joined eleven other parishes to create the Holy Apostles Parish Family — a collaboration modeled on the twelve apostles, sharing three priests and one collaborative parish office.
