Parish History

St. Michael's Catholic presence in Oakridge predates its 2008 incorporation as St. Michael Catholic Church, Oakridge, Oregon (Oregon Domestic Nonprofit Corporation #51669498). Through the decades the parish has been served by a succession of priests from the Archdiocese of Portland, several of whom simultaneously pastored St. Henry in Dexter as a mission.

  1. Father Vincent L. Cunniff

    Earlier pastor of St. Michael in Oakridge; WWII veteran bombardier who made a vow to become a priest if he survived the war; later served St. Peter in Eugene and Our Lady of the Dunes in Florence; died Sept. 28, 2022, at age 102.

  2. Father Ken Olsen2010–2017

    Took over as administrator in 2010 with St. Henry in Dexter as a mission; taught iconography to parishioners; also chaplain for the PeaceHealth/Sacred Heart system; retired in 2017.

  3. Father Ed Coleman2017–

    Announced by Archbishop Alexander Sample as the new pastor of St. Michael in Oakridge with St. Henry in Dexter as a mission, effective July 1, 2017; previously pastored Immaculate Conception in Stayton (2011–2017) and Our Lady of Lourdes in Jordan with mission St. Patrick in Lyons; also previously served St. James Parish in Molalla.
