Parish History
St. Michael Catholic Church was established in 1912 during the coal-mining and railroad boom in eastern Oklahoma, when immigrant Catholic families — many of them miners and railroad workers from Europe — settled in Henryetta and needed a parish of their own. The original church was built near 10th and Gentry Street, where it served as a spiritual and social center for Catholic families in Okmulgee County for decades. Parish life has revolved around the sacraments, religious education, and community gatherings, and today St. Michael continues to serve new generations of believers as part of the Diocese of Tulsa and Eastern Oklahoma.
