The parish pairs a long-standing rural congregation (rooted in 1885) with a network of lay liturgical ministries (lectors, extraordinary ministers, altar servers, ushers, music ministry) that are easy to step into. Visitors and parishioners alike can plug into faith formation, the parish's clustered pastoral care with neighboring All Saints Parish, Fremont, and a community where the church and school are explicitly noted as handicapped accessible.

History of St. Michael – Christ the King Parish
St. Michael Parish was established in 1885 in Brunswick, a rural community in Newaygo County, to serve the Catholic families of the farmland around present-day Fremont, Michigan. Through the decades it became a multi-generation parish and even extended its mission beyond its own boundaries: diocesan priests from St. Michael's attended to St. Joseph Mission (Ottawa) at Hart/Elbridge from 1933 to 1936, ministry that is documented in the sacramental records now held by Marquette University. In 2012 the parish was reestablished through a merger with Christ the King Chapel in Hesperia, forming today's two-site parish community of St. Michael – Christ the King. It is also clustered with neighboring All Saints Parish, Fremont (established 1901), for shared pastoral cooperation across the three worship sites.
