St. Michael’s Catholic Church is a historic Benedictine parish in St. Florian, just outside Florence, Alabama, where deep-rooted faith and small-town warmth meet. Founded in 1872 and served by Benedictine monks since 1876, the parish carries a rich German-Catholic heritage visible in its 1918 church and celebrated Munich stained-glass windows. Today it is led by Father Patrick Egan, O.S.B., a Florence native and retired U.S. Army colonel who was appointed pastor in June 2025. The community welcomes families, young people, and visitors through daily and weekend Mass, Eucharistic adoration, confession, and active parish organizations.

History
St. Michael’s began in 1872 with German Catholic settlers in St. Florian. The parish came under Benedictine care in 1876, built its present church in 1914–1918, and installed Munich stained-glass windows in the late 1920s.
