St. Michael Catholic Church is a parish of the Archdiocese of Omaha serving the community of Coleridge, Nebraska. History of St. Michael, Coleridge
Construction of St. Michael's first church, a wood-frame building, began in 1886 and was completed in 1887, built on a hill on the southwest side of Coleridge north of the first rectory. The parish was a mission of the Catholic parish in Emerson, Nebraska from 1887 until December 4, 1905, when Rev. Edward Muenich became St. Michael's first resident pastor. In January 1945 the original church burned to the ground; Masses were held in a drug-store upstairs room, then in a store building across the street until the new church was completed.

St. Michael's weekend Mass schedule has changed as part of the Holy Spirit Catholic Parishes reorganization. As of recent parish information, St. Michael's Saturday evening Mass has been listed at 7:00 p.m., and a weekly Mass is also offered at Parkview Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge on Wednesday at 9:00 a.m. A Tuesday 7:00 a.m. Mass and a Thursday 9:15 a.m. Mass at Park View Haven have also been part of the parish's regular rhythm. Outreach to the Homebound and Nursing Homes
St. Michael's has a long tradition of bringing Mass and Holy Communion to those who cannot come to church. For many years, Holy Mass has been celebrated at the Park View Haven Nursing Home in Coleridge, currently at 9:15 a.m. on Thursday mornings, with about 11 Catholics from St. Michael's and surrounding parishes in attendance. Several volunteers help with Mass set-up and assist residents. On Thursdays, after Mass at Park View Haven, Fr. Jeff has a Communion Service at the Embers Assisted Living Center for the Catholics residing there. On Sundays and Holy Days, Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion bring Holy Communion to Park View Haven, the Embers Assisted Living Center, and the homebound.

Holy Spirit Catholic Parishes
St. Michael's is one of seven parishes that make up the Holy Spirit Catholic Parishes (HSCP), a family of rural churches formed as part of the Archdiocese of Omaha's 'Journey of Faith' reorganization. The name was chosen to reflect the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit. The HSCP is overseen by Rev. Owen Korte and Rev. Kevin Vogel, who rotate among the parishes. The main office is at Holy Trinity in Hartington. While individual parishes remain canonically intact, weekend Mass locations have been consolidated; St. Peter (Newcastle) and St. Michael (Coleridge) no longer host regularly scheduled weekend Masses, though weekday Masses and funerals and weddings continue at all locations.
