Parish History
The parish’s history begins with early Jesuit missionary activity in the 1600s along the Susquehanna River. A mission station was recorded in Dauphin as early as 1858, and by 1904, a mission named 'St. Louis' was listed in Catholic directories. The parish was formally established as a mission station in 1955 under Bishop George L. Leech, initially held at the Dauphin Fire Hall and later at the Dauphin School. In 1963, a committee recommended purchasing 10 acres of land near Stoney Creek, but a closer 15-acre site was eventually chosen and purchased.
