History
The parish traces its roots to 1911, when Ukrainian immigrants in Barnesboro formed a new church after separating from St. John’s. The first church was built in 1914, and a new wooden church in the Hutzul style was completed in 1968. The parish has had many pastors since its founding, including Rev. Victor Kowalytsky and Rev. Myron Holowinsky, who oversaw the major construction project. The church is architecturally unique, being the largest and only one built by a parish as a parish church in the U.S. with a three-dome design.
Clergy
The current pastor is Rev. Fr. Andriy Kelt, who was ordained in 2016 and previously served in Ambridge, PA. He was ordained a deacon in 2012 and studied at St. Basil College Seminary and the Catholic University of America. He is joined by two deacons: Christopher Bellock, an educator, and Anthony Dragani, a professor of Eastern Christian theology. The parish also has a history of many pastors since its founding in 1911.
Ministries
The parish offers a variety of ministries to support its community, including Youth Ministry, Kitchen (for hospitality and service), and Faith Formation. These ministries are designed to help parishioners grow in their faith and serve one another. Mass is celebrated in Ukrainian and English on Saturday at 4:00 PM and Sunday at 9:00 AM and 5:00 PM. Confessions are available before and after each liturgy or by appointment.
