History
Founded in 1877, the parish began with the first Catholic Mass celebrated in a rented cottage near the Atlantic Hotel. By 1878, a chapel was established in the same cottage. Bishop Thomas A. Becker of the Diocese of Wilmington officiated the first Mass in the chapel in 1880. The original site is now occupied by Dolle’s Candyland and the Cork Bar.
