Why belong here
St. Mary Parish offers a small-town Catholic community rooted in the Ohio Valley, with daily and Sunday Mass, a live-streamed schedule, weekly Confession, Eucharistic Adoration, and seasonal devotions like Stations of the Cross and the annual 40 Hours of continuous Adoration. It belongs to a two-parish family with St. John in Bellaire that actively forms parishioners through Discipleship Quads, OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults), parish school of religion (PSR), a young adult group, Cor men's group, and Caring Crafters, while supporting local outreach such as the Helping Holidays spaghetti dinner for families in need. For visitors and newcomers, the parish runs a 'Discovery Tool' gift survey so that newcomers can find a ministry that fits their talents.

History
St. Mary was formally established as a parish in 1946, completing a mission era that stretched back to the 1920s. The parish published a 50th anniversary history in 1996 ('St. Mary Parish Fifty Year Celebration,' by Peter Padyjasek) covering The Beginning Years (1920–1935), The Mission Years (1935–1946), and The Parish Years (1946–1996). In 2018, Bishop Jeffrey M. Monforton merged the territory of St. John Vianney Parish (Powhatan Point) into St. Mary Parish following the retirement of Fr. Samuel R. Saprano, and paired St. Mary with St. John in Bellaire under one pastor.

Faith Formation & Education
Faith formation spans cradle-to-adult. Children attend the Parish School of Religion (PSR) with sessions before and after Sunday Mass. Adults preparing for initiation enter OCIA (the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults), and the parishes have launched Discipleship Quads — small groups of four aimed at forming missionary disciples — with an introductory social held in the parish hall.

Parish Life & Ministries
The two-parish family runs several lay-led groups: Cor men's group, Caring Crafters (paint workshops whose proceeds benefit outreach), a Young Adult / Young Group, and a Pastoral Council. The Discovery Tool (powered by Ministry Architects Volunteer Accelerator) helps newcomers match their gifts with ministries.

Outreach & Charity
Outreach is rooted in the Ohio Valley. The parishes actively support Helping Holidays, a local non-profit that provides food baskets and gifts to local families in need at Christmas and Easter, and host an annual spaghetti dinner fundraiser at St. Mary's Church Hall. A Lenten Day of Spirituality for Women and parish missions (most recently led by Elevated Parish Missions) round out the formation calendar.
